Skipping school and work and making it a lake day adventure to see one of the most amazing things ever with our great friends The Hill Family!!!! We've experienced so much of life together as couples and a family it only made since that we all experience this together AND it was Brandon Hills 9th Birthday this particular day too!!! How cool is that?!? Thank you to Mom and Jim for letting us borrow their boat so we could start are journey to the very end of the north end of the lake from their docks!! 10:30am we met at the docks and after filling up with some gas we journied north for 2 hours! Those of you that know this lake know that their boat is already on what we consider the north end of the lake so this just tells you how far we had to go to get to 99% totality BUT hey it wasn't like we were sitting in traffic we were chilling on the lake!! Below was our target location but once we got there we decided to go even further north!
Gassing up for this journey! Nope it's not cheap ;-)
Eclipse ready!! We even tipped the gas guy with a pair of eclipse sunglasses since we know those are HOT commodity items that day ;-)
Brody checking in on the status....phase 1 of the Eclipse! He was amazed and said I can seen the MOON!!
Waiting for the eclipse and threw some chicken skewers and hot dogs on the grill for lunch!
A birthday celebration for Brandon's big day!!
It's TIME!!!! 99% totality!!!! It was sooooo cool!!! Although the phone camera made these pics look bright it actually got dark enough that it felt like 9 or 9:30pk at 2:30pm in the afternoon! Temps dropped 10 degrees quickly, the crickets were chirping and even a big fish jumped out of the water next to us!! Such a memorable experience for all of us!! Don't worry we taught the kids to hold their glasses to their temples and then look up at the sun and then back down before removing!
Since we were told not to use phone cameras to snap pics a co worker snapped these with her professional camera with the glasses over the lens!!!
Oh yes we were safe with the sherrif boat next to us and they were enjoying the view as well!
