Brodys check up went about as expected since he literally can goes days and days without eat but maybe a cracker or two or a cheese string here and there. Thankfully he still drinks his boost milk 2-3 times a day or we’d be in serious trouble here....
His stats from 5yrs compared to 6yr old check up is:
Brody: 5yr vs 6yr (1/27/20)
Weight: 32.4lbs (2%) 34.2 (-1%)
Height: 38.5in (0.9%) 40 3/8 (-1%)
BMI: 15 (48%) 14.75 (29%)
Since he is in the negative percentiles for weight and height we have been referred to an Endocrinologist to check hormone growth levels, thyroid, etc. After our 10:30am appt with his Pediatrician we had a 30 min break at home before the 1:30pm Endocrinologist appt where they decided to started meds (2x daily) for appetite enhancer and sent us to get a 3rd Dr that day to get 9 lab work tests and a scan of the bones in his hand. Apparently they can tell from the bones in your hand how far behind or on track you are with your growth. We have to wait a week or so for all these results to come in. They do not think his hormone growth levels are likely going to be off because typically those patients don’t have weight gain issues, only height issues. If they determine he’s too far off in his growth bones though that he would never be able to catch up they would then still recommend doing the growth hormone injections. After literally a 9 hour day of traveling to dr appts we are all exhausted and especially poor Brody!!
Now we just wait.....
On our way to Dr number 2 and in much better spirits...so far ;-)
Just to do some comparison pictures here are some pictures of Brodys two best friends in his class at school.
